Bishopsgate Residences penthouse gets $1.1 mil makeover

Renovating a luxurious penthouse suite to give it a “new lease of life” is no easy task, but interior design firm SuMisura recently achieved just that, with breathtaking results. The acclaimed firm was commissioned to work on a 6,082 sq ft four-bedroom penthouse at Singapore’s prestigious Bishopsgate Residences, a freehold 31-unit condominium developed by Japanese developer Kajima Corp and completed in 2012.

Led by Director and Co-founder Angela Lim, the SuMisura team set to work on the new project in early 2022, with a brief from the owner, believed to be a Chinese national relocated from Hong Kong, to create an individual identity for the penthouse and celebrate its surroundings. With the unit purchased in its original condition and many of the fixtures and finishes showing their age, the extensive renovations cost an estimated $1.13 million, including lighting, furniture and accessories.

The duplex penthouse has a living and dining area opening out to an al fresco dining area and roof terrace, a wet and dry kitchen with a yard, as well as four en suite bedrooms on the first level. On the mezzanine level, the team transformed the previously underutilised corridor space with a bespoke shoe cabinet before adding a study loft with full-height glass panels to provide a bird’s eye view of the living area below with sound and air conditioning protection.

The owner wanted the area to be layered with a mix of colours, textures, marble patterns, and lighting to complement the spaciousness of the unit. He also wanted the customised walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom to suit his own needs and the master bathroom to have the feel of a luxury boutique hotel. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors, motorised curtains, and extra-large round dining table for 12 also add to the aesthetic of the entire unit.

SuMisura’s renovation of the penthouse is just the latest in a string of jaw-dropping deals within the Bishopsgate and Chatsworth Road Good Class Bungalow enclave in Singapore’s Prime District 10. In early 2021, the Media Circle Condo wife of Fragrance Group’s boss, Lim Wan Looi, bought a Good Class Bungalow at Bishopsgate for $65 million and more recently, rents for luxury condo and Good Class Bungalow properties within the enclave have soared to new heights.

SuMisura appears to have achieved their brief in transforming the penthouse, giving the space a new lease of life and value.
